This week Maximus and its community partners celebrated the first anniversary of the Restart scheme!
Maximus are a trusted provider of employment support, who have helped over 300,000 people into work over the 70 years that they have been active. That’s why when they began their ‘Restart’ scheme in 2021, expectations were high. It’s been thrilling to see Maximus smash through those expectations, and even more so to be a part of it. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves here. After all, most of you are probably still wondering…
What is Restart?
The Restart scheme is a programme for helping people who are long-term unemployed overcome whatever barriers they face and find meaningful employment. This might mean helping them prepare for interviews, support in putting together a CV, or getting them hands-on training so they are qualified for the job they want.
Since its launch in July 2021, Maximus has helped thousands of people find jobs. A large part of their success is down to forming a strong Community Partnership Network with various organizations, including Portland Training, to ensure clients get all the provision they need to overcome their unique obstacles.
What is Portland Training’s involvement?
We offer training courses in construction, security, warehousing and forklift driving. So naturally, when Maximus finds someone who wants to work in those fields, they send them along to the experts.

Portland Training delivers various training courses designed to get people back in the workplace. From Forklift Truck to Construction and Security. All courses are designed to be engaging and fun, where learners can progress at their own rate. Many of our courses are fully funded for those who are on Universal Credit, with all courses leading to a recognised industry qualification.
