Forklift and Warehousing
Portland Training’s Forklift Truck and Warehousing course provides unemployed learners with the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge that will equip them to secure employment within the logistics sector.
The course is run over 3 weeks, the first week provides the learners knowledge of the working environment, with specific scenarios they may face when operating a Forklift Truck. Learners will gain vital skills such as writing accident reports, calculating load capacities and analysis of specific problems related to the job role. Learners will receive employability, progression, and online training knowledge.
The second week provides learners with a route to employment in the logistics sector. Learners will develop the underpinning knowledge necessary to support them in their role in this sector, including; Health and safety requirements in a warehousing environment, the principles of warehousing goods, the process of stock checking and preparing goods for dispatch and the importance of customer service in a warehousing environment.
On week 3, we offer full accredited training and testing on a counter-balance Forklift Truck that will enable the learners to achieve their FLT certificate and demonstrate their competence. On successful completion of the test, learners will receive a nationally recognised certificate in Forklift Truck Driving from the RTITB or ITSSAR (depending on location). This certificate is valid for three years.

19+yrs, unemployed and in receipt of government benefits or employed and earning less than £18,525 per annum.
Must be a full-time resident in the UK and meet other residency criteria.
Initial Assessments in English and Maths and other eligibility checks will be carried out at enrolment.
This course will taught using a range of practical and theoretical units. Assessment criteria will include practical assessments, written assessments and the completion of a portfolio.
If you meet the entry requirement criteria, this course may be fully funded. Meaning you may not have to pay anything.
Portland Training may also be able to access a Learner Support Fund to offer financial support for learners who are facing financial hardship to help pay for things that are not covered in the course funding, such as travel to and from the course venue.

As part of this course, you will receive impartial advice and support as part of Portland Training’s ongoing Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) provision to enable you to make informed decisions on your future.
You will be assigned a designated Employment & Progression officer whos job it is to offer impartial support and guidance on your next steps. You will also receive ongoing employability training, including important training such as, interview techniques and CV writing.
We also work with a range of local employers to help our learners gain employment on completion of their course.
