Fast Track to Construction
Are you looking for a career in construction? This qualification will support people who want to work in the construction industry by giving them the essential skills to proceed to getting their green CSCS card.
Couse participants will learn construction health and safety, groundworks, including gaining their Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment award.
For those who are eligible, we will fund the CSCS test and card.
Portland Training has a commitment to providing impartial Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) for all learners to help them make informed decisions on their own future.
As part of your enrolment process, you will have access to designated IAG staff to provide you with the support needed to help you make an informed decision regarding this course, making sure this it is right for you.

Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment
Fast Track to Construction courses are available in various locations, including

19+yrs, (24+ Years old for Peterborough) unemployed and in receipt of government benefits or employed and earning less than the threshold amount.
Threshold Amounts:
- West Yorkshire-£23,400
- Cambridgeshire and Peterborough-£22,500
- Non-Devolved (National)*-£20,319
Must be a full-time resident in the UK and meet other residency criteria.
Initial Assessments in English and Maths and other eligibility checks will be carried out at enrolment.
*Non-Devolved refers to all of our other delivery locations that are not in West Yorkshire or Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
This course will taught using a range of practical and theoretical units. Assessment criteria will include practical assessments, written assessments and the completion of a portfolio.
In addition, you must also pass a multiple-choice exam in order to get the Green CSCS card.
If you meet the entry requirement criteria, this course may be fully funded. Meaning you may not have to pay anything.
Portland Training may also be able to access a Learner Support Fund to offer financial support for learners who are facing financial hardship to help pay for things that are not covered in the course funding, such as travel to and from the course venue.

The Fast Track to Construction course is designed for people who would like to pursue a career in any construction or highways related position. The course equips learners with the basic skills to find employment on construction sites or highways .

As part of this course, you will receive impartial advice and support as part of Portland Training’s ongoing Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) provision to enable you to make informed decisions on your future.
You will be assigned a designated Employment & Progression officer whos job it is to offer impartial support and guidance on your next steps. You will also receive ongoing employability training, including important training such as, interview techniques and CV writing.
We also work with a range of local employers to help our learners gain employment on completion of their course.
